Google Material Design is a design language that was developed by Google in 2014. Material Design uses grid-based layouts, responsive animations and transitions, padding, and dept effects. According to 9to5Google, Google is testing a slightly different version of its homepage and search page that encompasses the elements of Material Design.  Here’s a sneak peak of what the changes will look like.

Google Material Design – HOMEPAGE

If we compare the old and new look we can see the search bar has a drop shadow behind it which emphasis on dept.

Google Material Design – SEARCH RESULTS PAGE

In the old design only the top news would have an image and the results following would be in text. The new design will feature side by side story cards of three top results, while the following results will be in text.

Google Material Design – NAVIGATION ON THE SEARCH RESULT PAGES

The buttons that are on the top right of the search results page will also have a new look. The “settings” button has moved next to the “apps” button. The sign in button now consists of a picture of your profile.

Now would this new move from Google take effect immediately? Has it already on its pages and we aren’t still aware. I could state that only ‘Time could Tell’, but instead news is on the go, that Google has managed to launch a few pages with the effect. Their Logo and layout has been around for a long time with minor changes. Honestly a new logo and layout for the Giant Search Engine, is what i await the most!
