Since the Extended Universe are the new trend in movies, Marvel and DC are both the fore runners in the extended universe scenario. DC earlier this year released the teaser and trailer for their movie called the Justice League, which would feature all the super heroes fighting together against a threat for the survival of the world. And though fans are excited about it, they could not help but noticing a change in the logo design of the Justice League.
Warner Bros. is gearing up with their first movie from their extended universe which would include all the heroes together, and is putting DC brand at the forefront. These heroes include some old super heroes and some new ones that would later have their own movies. For instance, Aquaman has his movie starring Jason Momoa in it, and Flash’s own movie called Flashpoint starring Ezra Miller.
While DC’s extended universe is a brand of its own, the hint dropped by Warner Bros. by including the DC logo in the Justice League poster says that the Warner Bros. would want the new universe to be a separate brand entity with DC. So far, 5 movies have released under this banner starting from Man of Steel followed by the Batman vs Superman: Dawn of justice, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman. All these movies received immense appreciation from the viewer’s globally and earned a staggering $3 billion worldwide.
Justice League logo has created a new ripple of excitement among fans who anticipate superhero movies as they see the extended universe taking shape and predicting releases of more movies starring their favorite superheroes together in a movie. The addition of DC to the Justice League logo makes a point that these films would tie together in a more prominent way moving forward.
Although the DC’s extended universe is referred as a shared cinematic universe, these four films under the banner were promoted separately, and not in a way that showed strong links between them, this addition might also be a reference that now the films would also be promoted together to give an enhanced experience to the fans around the world. And that Warner Bros. and DC would be more active in selling the concept of a separate brand making it more distinguished.
The new movie showcasing the origin of Joker exists in a different reality than the DC’s extended universe, so it would be interesting to see how Warner Bros. would market this movie. Also additional movies based on the Joker including the Harley and Joker spinoff and the sequel of Suicide Squad are in the pipeline, making the fans curious on how these movies would be marketed as a separate franchise.
That said, it is interesting how Warner Bros. would eventually market the recently rumored new Joker origin film supposedly produced by Martin Scorsese given that it is said to exist in a different reality than the rest of the DCEU and Justice league. Since the character originated from the DC Comics and already has a counterpart in the main film series with Jared Leto, who will still continue to play the role in other upcoming projects, it has left the fans in a state of amazement as to how it will be promoted as a separate franchise.
