Dubai E-commerce Websites to Be Certified Formally

Dubai e-commerce websites are now going to be certified formally by Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP). The step to legally endorse all the Dubai e-commerce websites is being taken to protect the users, keep track of the online transactions and, to resolve all the consumer complains.

According to the report on Tuesday, the project titled “Digital Protection” is aimed at the e commerce companies in Dubai, UAE and the ones operating in the free zones.

According to the CEO of the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP), Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah, this will not only encourage the e-commerce industry in Dubai UAE, it will also lead to the increase in the customers’ confidence in online transactions.

Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah, stated that, “We will certify e-commerce websites in Dubai UAE, in line with our consumer protection policies, and train them on complying with relevant UAE laws and regulations,

The certified websites will display the consumer protection logo of Dubai Economy and will co-operate with us in resolving consumer complaints, irrespective of whether they are onshore companies or free zone entities,

With e-commerce marketing in Dubai UAE on the rise, making e-commerce transparent and accountable is extremely important not only for helping the e-commerce development in Dubai UAE, but also to protect the reputation of Dubai as a commercial business hub.  E commerce business in Dubai UAE is one of the main ways through which revenue is generated.

UAE is in the middle of leading a game changing evolution in the e-commerce sector, and according to a recently conducted research, the total value of the revenue through e-commerce is most likely to reach AED36.7 billion by the year 2018.

Lootah also stated that, “The Digital Protection certificate is aimed at e-commerce companies and not individuals. A number of e-commerce establishments have already shown interest in getting certified. E-commerce companies willing to get certified must contact CCCP,”

CCCP representatives will visit the e-commerce firms and train the workers on their user complaint and resolution mechanisms. All facilities related to the certification of the e-commerce websites will be without charge.
