Detroit Pistons New Logo is a nod to the team’s bad boy’s era with a modern twist. They have updated their primary logo which was unveiled in the NBA Draft Lottery at Campus Martius Park. This the eighth time the Pistons have changed their logo but Detroit Pistons New Logo is similar to their primary logo from 1979-96.
Pistons logo has always consisted of some form of basketball except from 1996-2005, when the focus was a horse and a teal. The red blue and white basketball in the new logo is symbolic to their brand which has modern and sleek lines with a groovy twist. Pistons New Logo is a result of a six-month design process by their designing team in collaboration with NBA and Nike who is the official outfitter for the NBA from the upcoming season.
The Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for the Detroit Pistons said that their new logo celebrates their long standing history in the sports community, reflects a modern design, and stays true to their brand. Detroit Pistons New Logo links their championship lineage with exciting prospects for the future, following their move to downtown Detroit.
The font and weight are different in the new logo with a cleaner and simpler look allowing the red in the background to stand out. The subtle touch of chrome silver pays homage to the classic Detroit muscle cars. This logo will also be featured in their new Jerseys. A detailed look of the logo can be seen in the image below:

The team stayed loyal to their color scheme; royal blue, red and white. According to the team, the colors have a close link to the city. Royal blue represents the blue collar work of the city, red is associated with the heart shown in the community and in the basketball court and white symbolizes the youthful core of the team.
Overall the change is simple yet familiar but it’s a good move from their previous drop-shadow font logo.
